Wellness Walk at Sam Michael’s Park

Let’s get outside and enjoy the trails together!

This is a free/donation-based program. All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 15 participants. This program has a minimum of 5 participants.

This December, we’re exploring a local treasure with a fascinating story — Sam Michael’s Park, a 130-acre landscape of woods and open fields near Harpers Ferry. Once the home of the park’s namesake, Samuel G. Michaels, this property was known for its beauty, charm, and the eccentric personality of its owner.

Today, the park is a thriving community space and a living reminder of Sam’s wish that his land be “placed in suitable condition for viewing of the public.” Join us as we stroll through this historic property, learn about its colorful past and enjoy the natural beauty in each other’s company.

The trail goes in and out of the woods. To make it longer, there is a ½ mile paved trail that we may take. Consider bringing a few holiday cookies and a sack lunch to enjoy together! Leashed dogs are welcome.
