On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the people of First United Methodist Church of Shelby will gather with joy and thanksgiving to celebrate 200 years of Methodist/United Methodist witness in Shelby, Ohio. We are honored to remember that the Methodists were the first to form a religious body in the village back in 1821—and we give thanks for God’s faithfulness through the generations.
Our anniversary worship will begin with special gathering music featuring our organist, Cindy Bennett, and the Cardinal Chorale. The service will include Holy Communion, and our morning message will be brought by Dr. Joel Hunter, a former member of this congregation who has gone on to a lifetime of faithful ministry.
Following worship, a light lunch will be provided for all who wish to share in fellowship, conversation, and a chance to look around our historic church home at 18 South Gamble Street, Shelby.
We warmly invite you—whether you are a current member, a friend from the community, or a pastor who has served here in the past—to join us in this milestone celebration. And if you are unable to be present with us in person, we ask you to keep us in your prayers as we give thanks for our past and look with hope to the future God has prepared.
