Talk -Doodlebugs and Rockets over Kent

Join local historian Bob Ogley for a talk on V1 and V2 Rockets, based on his book, ‘Doodlebugs and Rockets.’ He will talk about the experiences of those who lived through the flying bomb raids. Between June 1944 and March 1945 the Germans launched V1 and V2s or Doodlebugs and Rockets in an effort to turn the tide of the Second World War.

Bob Ogley was editor of the local newspaper in Sevenoaks for more than 30 years but left when his first book about the Great Storm of 1987 went into the national best sellers. He has now written more than 20 books and raised in excess of £100,000 for local charities. This includes his story of the doodlebugs and rockets. He found the abandoned rocket launching sites in France long before they were turned into museums.
