Older, Wiser Livelier Scholars: Prairie Seed Collection

Margie Winter of Friends of the Gottfried Prairie & Arboretum will provide instruction on seed collection and sorting. A portion of the seeds will be distributed among interested participants and the rest will be reseeded at a later date to help nature disperse these beautiful plants across Maywood’s 21-acre prairie. Bring a water bottle, dress for the weather, and wear appropriate footwear. Seeds cannot be collected wet, and an alternate program will be held in the event of rain or recent rain.
