Junk journaling workshop: Celebrate spring, transmute a book left behind into a low-effort, maximum fun junk journal. Together we can take physical media, recyclables, and found items and combine them with collaging techniques, hand lettering, black out poetry, paint pens, and more.
Explore mindfulness and freedom of expression. Leave behind perfectionism. Bring playfulness into your life. Make art about how you feel about the state of the world. Build a community of creatives.
The workshop begins with a brief introduction and explanation of junk journaling with time to explore the teacher's previous art journal entries, then students will spend the rest of the time freely creating.
Students need:
An old book, out-of-date planner, or other kind of journal
Scraps, receipts, wrappers, fruit stickers, mail, advertisements or other junk from your daily life
Paints, paint pens, markers, color pencils
Scissors, glue or glue dots
Optional: Quotes, photographs, magazines, scrapbook paper, artwork/doodles, stickers, etc.
I plan to bring a few magazines, posca pens, and glue to share with students.
Meet the teacher:
Sarah Paar (she/they) I'm an artist and art enthusiast. Since 2017, I've experimented and explored art journals/junk journaling as a low-effort way of expression.
