A little bit about the park:
• Cherney Maribel is a geologic gem sculpted by glaciers. The rock outcrops and cliff lines you’ll see are carved from exposed Niagara Dolomite.
• Over time, springs, acids, moisture, and freeze–thaw cycles created hidden openings and caves along the bluffs.
• One of the caves, New Hope, was discovered in winter 1984 when steam was rising from a talus rock pile. Excavation revealed winding passages, including a “Halloween Room.”
• The park is home to rare ferns, mosses, and a lush understory tucked between the rock walls and wooded slopes.
