It's a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart and Donna Reed.
George Bailey is a man who consistently puts his dreams of world travel on hold to save the family business and bail out his slightly chaotic town of Bedford Falls. When a financial mishap orchestrated by the town’s resident miser, Mr. Potter, leaves George contemplating ending it all on Christmas Eve, a quirky angel named Clarence (who really needs his wings) intervenes. Clarence shows George what the town would look like without him: basically, a noir nightmare filled with casinos and unhappy people. Realizing his "wonderful life" isn't so bad after all, George returns home to find the entire town rallying around him, proving that no man is a failure who has friends (and a massive pile of cash donations).
