Experience the enchanting allure of a full moon swim at Shaftesbury Lido, Dorset's only lido. Nestled in the heart of Shaftesbury, this cherished council-run facility offers a unique setting for an invigorating swim under the moonlit sky.
Each full moon carries its own story and energy, and our swims are designed to align with these themes, offering you the perfect opportunity for connection, reflection, and renewal.
The October full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon and it is so named as it came to signify the ideal time for tribes to hunt game, as people planned for the cold months ahead.
It is believed that the Hunter’s moon provides a strong connection to nature and inner transformation, so is a time for personal growth. It can help with clarity in vision and insight into one’s path or purpose and can promote unity among loved ones, making it a time to reflect on your journey and embracing the cycles of life.
This one will be particularly special, as it’s a supermoon, which only happens around three or four times a year.
With the heating now off, please be aware that it will be cold water swimming conditions. Please take note of the advice and medical exclusions on the links when booking. You will need to complete a medical questionnaire (hard copies available at the pool).
It will be chilly when you get out in the dark so please make sure you bring warm clothes, hot drinks and snacks for socialising after (no alcohol or glass, please).
