Scafell Pike Hike in Lake District on 8th November 2025

Rising proudly to 978 metres (3,209 feet), Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England — a rugged jewel in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Hiking it isn’t just a walk; it’s an adventure through some of the country’s most dramatic and soul-stirring scenery.

Whether you begin from Wasdale, with its steep, direct ascent, or opt for the more gradual approaches from Borrowdale or Langdale, the journey will lead you over rocky paths, past tumbling streams, and into a landscape carved by ancient glaciers.

This is a hike that rewards you not just with views, but with the feeling of standing on top of England - so come and join us!

• Meeting point: Wasdale Head Car Park for Scafell Pike - CA20 1EX

• Distance: 10 km
• Duration: approx 5 to 6 hrs

Essential Kit:

✅ Walking boots: Supportive, comfortable, and waterproof

✅ Backpack: Large enough to carry food, water, and extra layers

✅ Water bottles: At least 1–2 litres — hydration is key!

✅ Snacks and food: High-energy trail food — trail mix, energy bars, fruit, and a packed lunch

🧥 Clothing:

✅ Base layer: Moisture-wicking tops and leggings

✅ Mid layer: Fleece or light sweater for warmth

✅ Outer layer: Waterproof and windproof jacket and overtrousers

✅ Hat and gloves: To keep warm, even in summer, at higher elevations

✅ Walking socks: Durable and comfortable — consider a spare pair

🕹 Extras:

✅ Fully charged phone: Ideally with a backup battery pack

✅ First aid kit: Plasters, painkillers, and any Medic*tion you need

✅ Whistle: For emergencies — a small, lightweight lifesaver

✅ Torch or headlamp: If you’re delayed or descending in low light

✅ Sunscreen and sunglasses: To protect against UV, even on overcast days

✅ Rubbish bag: Carry back everything you bring — leave no trace!
