Our popular TOMMY RUNS return on the 2nd November 2025. the week before Memorial Sunday.
The 5km and 10km courses go along the beautiful sea front at Seaham on a mixture of closed road, paths, promenade, and some trail paths. The event will start at the Tommy War Memorial statue of a First World War soldier by artist Ray Lonsdale, displayed close to Seaham war memorial, on Terrace Green by the seafront in Seaham, County Durham.
Both races will be starting together in 2025!!
There will be a 1 minute silence before the races start.
The Statue depicts a soldier, wearing boots, puttees, great coat and a tin hat, sitting on an ammunition box, with downcast eyes, holding the barrel of his grounded rifle in his right hand. It is officially named 1101 (or Eleven-O-One), referring to the first minute of peace as the armistice came into force at 11am on 11 November 1918, but is more popularly known as Tommy, referring to the archetypal private soldier, Tommy Atkins.
Due to Road Closures in place, there is a 90 minute cut-off time for the Event. This is a running race and should not be entered by those intending to walk.
ALL RUNNERS will receive an event Medal, Event T-Shirt, a snack and a drink.
