About the event

Farm Carbon Toolkit's Annual Field Day 2025
This year, our Annual Field Day will take place on Tuesday 30th September, at The Pink Pig Farm in Lincolnshire.

About this Event

Navigating change

How can we navigate change on our farms in a way that drives performance and profit?

Unpredictable weather patterns, declining crop protection options, shifting policy priorities, uncertain environmental demands and diminishing returns. It seems like everything is changing for farmers at the moment and it can be difficult to know where to turn and what to do.

If you’re wondering how to weather this perfect storm and shape a business that is stronger and more able to withstand these winds of change, the FCT Field Day is designed for you.

Why attend?

This is your chance to join us for a one-day deep dive into the techniques and mindset shifts that are helping farmers cut costs, improve soil health, and future-proof their businesses. The FCT field day isn’t just theory, it’s your opportunity to learn from boots-on-the-ground farmers with:

  • Direct access to some of the industry’s foremost innovators in this space. Hear their stories, ask questions and find out what you can implement on your farm
  • A farm tour where you can see these practices in action and understand how they work
  • Discussions with other farmers to hear their experiences and build your knowledge by learning from their successes and failures
  • Insights on new opportunities to reduce costs and diversify income streams to bolster your bottom line

Your farm hosts

The FCT Field Day is hosted by father and daughter team, Andrew and Anna Jackson, who featured in the recent Six inches of Soil film. Andrew is a previous finalist of the Soil Farmer of the Year competition and has spent the last 10 years pushing the boundaries in the pursuit of improved soil health and carbon neutrality.

Growing a wide variety of crops, on soils that span everything from light sand through to Lincolnshire Wold soil, they have transitioned from strip till to direct drilling, reduced nitrogen application on cereals, diversified and re-introduced livestock into the rotation and are now experimenting with biological applications. The farm also hosts a farm shop, café, and visitor centre, connecting the public with farming and food.

Station 2: Balancing Inputs – Tim Parton shares how he cut nitrogen use by half without losing yield, using balanced nutrition and soil biology.

Station 3: Supporting Biology – Find out how Anna Jackson has reintroduced livestock into the family arable farm and how John McArthur is incorporating pulses and legumes as low emission animal feeds for his livestock. Understand the practical issues, how to overcome them and the benefits that they can bring in terms of improving soil health and biological activity.
