North Scottsdale United Methodist Church to Host Blessing of the Backpacks — and Golf Clubs!
North Scottsdale United Methodist Church (NSUMC) invites families to kick off the new school year with a fun, faith-filled twist. On Sunday, August 10th @ 10am kids and adults alike are welcome to join us for our annual Blessing of the Backpacks — and this year, we’re adding a round of mini-golf to the mix!
Families are encouraged to bring their backpacks to be blessed during our morning service, as we pray for a safe, joyful, and successful school year for students, athletes, teachers, and families. After worship, everyone is invited to grab a putter and hit the course — right here on church grounds!
Mini Golf Experience!
Join us after worship for some friendly competition as we celebrate the bringing of a new school year. The Fellowship Center will transform into a miniature golf course! This is an opportunity to meet new friends, engage in conversation, and have a lot of fun along the way!
We provide everything you need for your family to have a great experience — putters, balls, scorecards, and even golf pencils.

In addition to the blessing, NSUMC is collecting back-to-school supplies to help local students through Vista del Camino Recreation Center in South Scottsdale start the year prepared and confident. Families are encouraged to bring donations of new school supplies — from notebooks and pencils to backpacks and lunch boxes — to help support children in our wider community.
The Rev. Leah Bergstrom shares, “This event blesses our kids and reminds our whole congregation to keep them in our hearts and prayers all year long. It’s a beautiful way to launch the school year surrounded by faith, fun, and community.”
