Honey is more than a natural sweetener — it’s a powerful functional food with medicinal properties. Join us in the 1440 Teaching Kitchen for an immersive class that takes you from hive to table, featuring insights from Cole Yakemchuk, beekeeper at Northern Roots Bee Company, and culinary guidance from 1440 faculty member Chef Ryan Fillhardt.
Explore the fascinating world of honeybees and learn how honey can elevate both flavor and wellness in everyday cooking. Discover the Food As Medicine benefits of honey, including its role in immunity and inflammation, and uncover its diverse health and culinary applications. As you learn, nibble on small bites that showcase honey’s versatility, and take home a jar of 1440 honey—crafted by our 320,000 resident bees across eight onsite colonies.
After the workshop, gather for a sustainably sourced dinner in our communal Kitchen Table dining room, where the 1440 Culinary Team will share insights about our local farm partners and the ingredients that help us Live Well.
