For those who want some history with their frights, we have collected a wide range of ghoulish tales from around Schoharie County and beyond. Expect the unexpected as we invite you into a world of ghosts, witches, witch doctors, creepy things, horrors of the colonial & Revolutionary War periods, and places of unrest, accompanied only by candlelit pumpkins and lanterns. We even have a personal experience or two to relate. This is old fashioned storytelling in just the right setting. Surrounded by a gurgling creek, a covered bridge, and an Old Dutch burying ground, here truth can be scarier than fiction.
The last half of the evening, we will proceed to the front lawn of the Old Stone Fort where we will explore the unexplained phenomena reported over the years inside and the accompanying grounds. Our long association with the place means we have a trove of personal stories and spooky experiences from others to relate. We were there for the filming of the 2010 Ghost Hunters TV show and can dish out what happened behind the scenes. We’ll also describe a number of macabre objects in the museum collection with connections to traumatic, horrific events. Perhaps we will help answer the question of who might be haunting the Old Stone Fort. Before we leave the fort, we’ll conduct a group photo & sound experiment that may – or may not – capture something lurking in the shadows the naked eye or ear can’t.
$10 for ages 10 & up – cash or check at the time of the event. If it were a movie, we'd rate it PG. No reservations are necessary as there is plenty of room & there are no advanced ticket sales. Begins at 7pm. It will be dark and probably chilly. We will be under the stars. Bring lawn seating, a flashlight, a blanket to keep warm or hide under, and a flashlight. If it rains, we will go under the Nicholas Juried pavilion. For more info, please contact
