KunstWerkt
Lange Nieuwstraat 191, 3111 AJ Schiedam, Nederland, Schiedam, Netherlands
This year's exhibitors include not only newcomers but also veterans and returning artists; artists who are unfamiliar with each other's work, or perhaps not very familiar with it.
Making connections is one of KunstWerkt's objectives. This entails not only introducing the public to art and artists, but also fostering contact between artists. This involves getting to know each other, encouraging them, sharpening their own vision, learning from each other, and inspiring them. This group exhibition has been developed based on the work and mindset of the participating artists; where do they differ from each other, where do they connect? Each artist, with their own work, provides a new impulse to the work of their colleagues. And that's how it should be, of course.
The exhibition opens Thursday, January 8, at 1:00 PM.
The official opening will take place on Sunday, January 18, at 3:30 PM, with an opening remark by KunstWerkt chairman Marcel Houtkamp. He will launch the cultural podcast created for this exhibition by Margareth Bles. She will introduce the artists and their work through short interviews in an informative yet playful way. The podcast will also be available for visitors to the exhibition.
Following this, the New Year's reception will take place.
The closing event will take place on Sunday, February 1st at 3:30 PM with an Artists' Talk led by Milla Dijkmans, 13, a student at 'De Theaterhavo/vwo' in Rotterdam. There will also be a performance by Ishtar Bakhtali that afternoon. Her act, titled TIIGRI, is part of the music event 'Gluren bij de buren' (Peeking at the Neighbors), taking place that day at various locations throughout the country, including Schiedam. Check https://glurenbijdeburen.nl/nl for the description and times.
