John Etheridge Trio North

On September 10th Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes legendary guitarist John Etheridge/Trio North for what’s become their annual visit to the Club. Etheridge’s reputation in the jazz world cannot be overstated. A genuinely virtuosic fusion guitarist, he is one of a handful of players who can claim to have helped shape the character of modern jazz guitar. He has been described by fellow guitarist Pat Metheny as ‘one of the best guitarists in the world’, a distinction that is due in no small part to his tireless exploration of the possibilities of his instrument.

Equally at home playing with classical guitarist John Williams, hot club violinist Stephane Grappelli, veteran blues man Paul Jones or the recently reunited Soft Machine, his awesome technique is unparalleled. Trio North is John Etheridge with Ben Crosland (bass) and Dave Tyas (drums).
