Gammelgården Museum of Scandia will be passing out free cinnamon buns at the museum in celebration of the 45th anniversary of Cinnamon Bun Day. The cinnamon buns will be distributed at the museum on a first-come, first-served basis.
When you pick up your cinnamon bun, plan to spend some time looking at the Welcome House (the big red building) and seeing the following exhibits and displays:
- Exploring the World of Immigrants
- Wool Production
- Birch: Art and Function
- Dala Horses Featured in Gammelgården's 2025 Puzzle
- Celebrating Swedish and Mexican Immigration from the 1800s to 2000s
The grounds are open for people to walk around and see the exterior of the historic buildings. For those wanting to see the inside of the historic buildings, guided tours will be offered at 10:30, 12:00, and 1:30 on Friday. (Regular fees for tours apply.)
(This event is in addition to cinnamon buns that will be passed out by the Scandia-Marine Lions, City of Scandia, and Scandia Sister City Council at the corner of Elim Lutheran Church, the cemetery, Makin Bike Shop, and Apothecary’s Daughter earlier in the day from 6:30-9:00 a.m., or until supplies run out).
