CHECKMATE begins with a seemingly typical teen house party—but when young Aaron Dame ends up dead, Detectives John Getz and Raymond Morton must unravel a tangled web of secrets. Eight teens are suspected of knowing more than they admit, but as the investigation deepens, the detectives stumble upon clues that reopen a cold case from the year before. With sharp twists, emotional depth, and thought-provoking questions, CHECKMATE keeps audiences guessing until the final moments. This play will challenge your mind about young people and their code of silence, but where that silence can lead. Ending gun violence is the mission, but we can only do it if we change the mind-set of the next generation.
