Join us for a guided birding walk through the wetlands and trails of Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge—an internationally recognized hotspot for migrating birds. As summer fades into fall, Montezuma comes alive with the sights and sounds of shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors making their long journey south. This is a perfect time to discover the wonders of bird migration in one of the Finger Lakes’ most vital habitats.
Led by Eaton Birding Society members Nancy Jameson and Paul English, this program is designed especially for beginners and novice birders. We’ll cover the basics of bird identification, how to use binoculars, and tips for spotting and listening for birds in the wild. Expect to see a dazzling variety of species, including sandpipers, yellowlegs, teal, and perhaps even a bald eagle soaring overhead. This program will include some walking and some driving.
Whether you’re just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, this gentle-paced walk will help you connect with nature and the rhythms of migration. This program is family-friendly.
