Discover the delicate art of slip trailing as you create beautifully decorated ceramic tiles inspired by botanical forms. In this hands-on class, students will learn how to prepare slip, load and control slip-trailing bottles, and apply a range of floral designs onto clay tiles. We’ll explore techniques for creating smooth, raised lines, adding texture and dimension, and planning designs that complement the surface of the tile.
Throughout the workshop, participants will practice drawing flowers with slip, experiment with line weight and flow, and learn tips for troubleshooting common challenges such as clogging, uneven pressure, and surface drying. By the end of the session, each student will complete a set of 2 decorative tiles showcasing their slip-trailed floral motifs—perfect for display, gifts, or incorporation into larger ceramic projects.
This class is ideal for beginners as well as potters looking to expand their surface-decorating skills.
