About the event

Sounds of the Sash
J.J. Lavallee is a Métis singer-songwriter and fiddler who combines the soulful melodies of country music with the spirited rhythms of traditional Métis sounds.

Prince Albert Métis fiddle player Dean Smith is often found playing for old-time dances, numerous square dance groups, and for various Métis events such as Back to Batoche.

Tahnis Cunningham began playing fiddle in the Cunningham Family Band. In 2016, she developed an educational presentation that combined tunes and stories to tell the history of Métis fiddle music in Canada.

Lucas Welsh (guitar) and Cathy Sproule (piano) provide expert accompaniment.

Sponsored by Northern Lights Bluegrass & Old Tyme Music Society
