When Colin Linden met blues icon Howlin’ Wolf at a matinee show in his native Toronto, it set the precocious 11-year old old guitar player off on a 54-year blues journey. During their two-hour conversation before the gig, the legendary bluesman told Colin, “I’m an old man now, and I won’t be around much longer - it’s up to you to carry it on.” Taking Wolf’s plea seriously Colin has performed since he was 12 and left home as a teenager to travel the south at the invitation of Mississippi Sheiks delta blues guitarist Sam Chatmon.
Since then Colin has worked with everyone from Bruce Cockburn to Bob Dylan, from Greg Allman to John Prine, and from Emmy Lou Harris to Lucinda Williams. He was the main contributor to the music for the Nashville TV show and subsequent live tours. He's played on over 500 albums and produced 140 albums. In 2020 he won a Grammy for producing Keb Mo’s Oklahoma. He's also been nominated for 25 JUNO Awards and has won nine. Colin also performs with Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson as part of the Canadian roots supergroup, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings.
