BACKSTAGE@Santa Paula Theater Center is announcing their first show for 2026 Season, BEYOND THERAPY by Christopher Durang, directed by David Henderson. With performances January 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Sunday Matinees at 2:30 PM. There will be a special Thursday performance on January 8 at 8 PM. General admission is $15.00 and PWYC on Sat Jan 10, 2026.

In BEYOND THERAPY, Bruce and Prudence are deeply into therapy. Prudence’s macho therapist is urging her to be more assertive, while Bruce’s wacky female therapist wants him to meet women by placing a personal ad. She does not fully comprehend that Bruce has a male lover who is not pleased by Bruce’s desire to date a woman. Bruce does not know how to handle poor, nervous Prudence, and Prudence does not know what to make of her unpredictable new boyfriend. They do learn to live beyond therapy in this delightful off-Broadway hit, which moved successfully to Broadway starring Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow.
