The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles is honored to announce an afternoon with photographer on Saturday, September 13th at 2:00 PM at the American Cinematheque Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. This talk is part of the ongoing series created by PAC LA with the generous support of .
The Talk:
Meiselas is well known for her documentation of human rights issues in Latin America, and her visit coincides with the 2025 rerelease of her acclaimed publication, from Aperture. The book was first published by Pantheon in 1981 and is more sharply relevant today than ever.
Susan’s talk will center around her Nicaragua work over multiple decades and the various forms it has taken – as a book, exhibition and film – tracing the lives of her images as they have circulated and been repatriated, shifting their meaning over time.
Meiselas has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1997 as well as the President of the since 2007, with a mission to expand diversity and creativity in documentary photography.

There will be a book signing of following the presentation. A limited number of signed copies are available to reserve in advance, as our gift with a $100 donation to PAC LA. Books will also be available for purchase the day of the event.
Following the talk at the Aero, PAC LA will host a VIP benefit reception for the artist at a private home in Santa Monica. A select number of invitations to the reception are available for those interested in becoming supporting event sponsors with a $500 donation to PAC LA.

About the Artist:
Publications & Awards:In addition to Nicaragua, Meiselas is the author of numerous acclaimed titles including (1976), (1997), (2001), (2003) (2016), (2017), (2020), and (2022). Among her many awards of recognition, Susan has received the MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellowships, and her work is included widely in North American and international collections.
