We are thrilled to present an afternoon of Seashore Trio, as a part of our Music at the Library series. Join John Astaire, piano; Jessica Hoffman, oboe; and Grace Seng, violin for this free concert presented in Shepard Hall of the Santa Maria Public Library, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 3pm. They will be performing selections from Simon & Garfunkel, Beach Boys, The Beatles, and more!
The ‘Music at the Library’ series is presented by the Santa Maria Philharmonic Society.
This is a FREE event, but due to capacity restrictions, reservations must still be made.

John Astaire, piano
John Astaire, is a professional percussionist based in San Luis Obispo, CA. He is the principal timpanist with the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra, and is active with many central coast ensembles, including Opera San Luis Obispo, Orchestra Novo, the Santa Maria Symphony, the Lompoc Pops Orchestra, Symphony of the Vines, and the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale. As an educator, John teaches percussion and music theory at Cal Poly State University and directs Polyrhythmics, the university's percussion ensemble. John serves as the orchestral percussion coach for the San Luis Obispo County Youth Symphony, where he has the pleasure of introducing the next generation of young musicians to the joys of playing music.
Jessica Hoffman, oboe
Originally from Colorado, Jessica Hoffman, Oboe, attended UCLA where she majored in Mechanical Engineering and she studied the oboe. As a freelance oboist in LA, Jessica performed with the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, American Youth Symphony, Long Beach Ballet, Los Angeles Symphony and a number of community orchestras. During this time, she shared the stage in ensembles that featured world-class musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Emmanuel Ax, Andre Watts and Zubin Mehta. In 2010, Jessica relocated to the Central Coastfrom Los Angeles. She has appeared as a soloist with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Santa Maria Philharmonic and Symphony of the Vines. Jessica is currently in her 12th season as principal oboist of the San Luis Obispo Symphony and 10th season as principal oboist for the Santa Maria Philharmonic. When not playing the oboe, Jessica is in charge of the sustainable engineering and manufacturing improvement groups at Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench.
Grace Seng, violin
Started playing the violin at age three and developed her love of orchestra by playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony starting in 5th grade. She performs with many local music groups including the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Festival Mozaic, San Luis Obispo Master Chorale, and Mariposa String Quartet. Grace is the current SLO Symphony Music Education Manager and conductor of the Preparatory Strings Orchestra with the SLO Youth Symphony. She teaches chamber music and violin lessons at Cal Poly and in her private violin studio. Grace holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance summa cum laude from Northwestern University and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
