Day 1 – Travel to Santa Fe
Our journey begins as we depart Wichita, traveling west through scenic plains and high desert country. We’ll stop for lunch at the historic Hotel Eklund in Clayton, New Mexico, known for its welcoming atmosphere. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Santa Fe. We will stay in the heart of Santa Fe at the Drury Plaza Hotel, a historic renovation just steps from the Santa Fe Plaza. The evening begins with a wonderful welcome dinner, setting the tone for our Southwestern escape.
Day 2 – Santa Fe History & Art
After breakfast at the hotel, we explore Santa Fe’s rich past with a visit to the Palace of the Governors at the New Mexico Museum of History. We will enjoy lunch at the famous La Fonda Restaurant, a Santa Fe classic. The afternoon includes a stop at the Loretto Chapel to view its legendary miraculous staircase, followed by a visit to the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art. We end the day with dinner at local favorite Tomasita’s, featuring authentic New Mexican cuisine.
Day 3 – Museum Hill & Free Time
Following breakfast at the hotel, we head to Museum Hill to tour the Museum of International Folk Art and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. Don’t forget to stop at the impressive Apache Mountain Spirit Dancer sculpture. Lunch at Weldon’s Museum Café offers great food and beautiful views. The afternoon is free for historic downtown walking tours, shopping, or gallery hopping. In the evening, join us back at the hotel for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner is on your own around the Plaza if you choose.
Day 4 – Georgia O’Keeffe & Canyon Road
After breakfast, we visit the iconic Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, a true bucket-list destination. We then travel to Chimayó for lunch at the legendary Rancho de Chimayó, followed by a self-guided tour of this historic property. Returning to Santa Fe, enjoy a free afternoon before gathering in the evening for the famous Canyon Road Art Walk, a perfect way to celebrate our last night in Santa Fe.
Day 5 – Route 66 Journey Home
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our journey home along historic Route 66, traveling from Santa Fe back to Wichita. We’ll stop at Clines Corners in Tucumcari and enjoy lunch at Texas’ favorite, the Big Texan Restaurant. As we complete our drive, relax and reflect on three perfect days in Santa Fe, filled with unforgettable memories of art, culture, and Southwestern charm.
