Joanie and Stephen teach weekly Bachata classes Tuesday Nights, 7PM at Studio Nia Santa Fe. Bachata Dance originated in The Dominican Republic, but in recent years it's become a true international dance craze! From Buenos Aires to Tokyo, Paris to LA: Bachata is everywhere! Meet your Instructors:
Stephen Smith is a Bachata and Salsa Instructor with 12+ years experience teaching Latin Dance. During the last two summers, Stephen has toured country wide teaching Bachata in 29 cities across 14 states. Prior to moving to NM, Stephen ran a dance business on Maui, where he taught Bachata and Salsa for 7 years.
Joanie Atkinson is a multi-disciplinary dance artist with 13+ years of teaching experience. Starting with Irish Step dance at age 5, she transitioned to belly dance at the age of 14, and by age 18 was teaching and performing regularly. In 2017, she discovered partner dance, starting with Bachata and later expanding to Brazilian Zouk.
