As a Diné (Navajo) artist, Ray Goodluck explores the relationship between contemporary composition and his Indigenous heritage:

“When you look at almost every family around the world, there is a large gap in communication between elders and the youth. My paintings are portraits of my ancestors’ teachings, prayers, and songs. The modern motifs and bursts of energy are the children coming into this world, bringing color and joy with them. I am simply bridging the gap between the two generations."
