Mini Lecture: Remaking Fiesta: Protest, Puppets, and Parades

Drawing on Gustave Baumann’s archives, curator Hannah Abelbeck will talk about the 1920s Fiesta controversies during our free Baumannia Community Day on Sun., Sept. 28, 1:45 - 2 p.m. at the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe.

Abelbeck will talk in particular about the Pasatiempo parades, which were a watershed moment when Gustave Baumann, along with his collaborators, and helped shape Santa Fe’s identity.

Hannah Abelbeck is the curator of photographs and archival collections at the New Mexico History Museum and oversees the History Library and Photo Archives. Abelbeck is an advocate for making the library and archival resources more accessible to the public and promoting better understanding of New Mexico’s past.
