Forever After

Ricardo "Matthew" suffers from Isa "Crystal" reminders playing back in his memories and the guilt from Crystal's suicide. Can Mathew overcome his guilt with Izzy "Heather" support or will he succumb himself to end up the same way as Crystal?

Artist statement by Miles Smith Jr.

My name is Miles Smith Jr, and I am a Jicarilla Apache and Mescalero Apache filmmaker from Dulce, New Mexico. My art comes from a place of reflection, memory, and emotion. I focus on stories that deal with regrets, mistakes, and the weight of things people carry with them, even when they try to move forward. My storytelling is my way of fully opening myself to others and showing the real me to the audience and what my reflection and my passion is about.

Most of the projects I made were inspired by my own experiences and lessons I am still learning. I use my characters to speak to myself, to explore “what if,” and to work through situations that have stayed with me. My films are about grief, love, closure, emotions, that are hard to talk about, but important to share.

Every project I make, no matter the size, is another step forward in my growth as a filmmaker and as a person. My hope is that people walk away from my films with something to think about, whether it is their own relationships, their own memories, or simply the way we all deal with thepast to move ahead.
