About the event

Esperanza Auditions!
AUDITION NOTICE - SEEKING LATINO MEN & WOMEN!

Teatro Paraguas presents the stage production of Esperanza by Carlos Morton. This is a play with music based off of the 1954 film “Salt of the Earth”, which is a fictionalized retelling of the 1951 Empire Zinc Strike in Grant County, New Mexico. The real life strike lasted for 15 months and drew national attention to the discriminatory pay and treatment at the mining facility.

It will be directed by Paola Vengoechea and Elsa López.

AUDITION DATE AND TIME:
Thursday, December 11th from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCE:
The show will rehearse in January/February 2026 and perform March 6th - 22nd (Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday matinees) in Santa Fe at Teatro Paraguas. Looking to cast local talent from the surrounding area. More exact times of rehearsal and performance will be available at the audition.

PAY RATE:
$750 flat rate.
