All Levels Class which will be accessible to the first time Bachata dancer, BUT with enough depth of instruction to help more experienced dancers evolve with the fundamental skills necessary to take their dancing to the next level. Learn all the tools youโll need to be confident (and have fun) going out dancing at any Bachata Night anywhere in the world! Emphasis on Modern Bachata style, and introducing some aspects of traditional and sensual styles along the way.

Dive into Sensual Style Bachata, originated in Cadiz, Spain. Body Rolls, Isolations, and smooth flow! Learn the style of Daniel and Desiree, Luis and Andrea, Korke and Judith- and other Bachata stars. Recommended Level: At least a few months of prior Bachata experience OR a significant amount of technical dance training in another style of dance OR a wicked desire to be challenged :)
Note: For those taking this class we recommend attending both the Modern and the Sensual hours. In the Modern hour, we work on footwork and technique youโll need to attain mastery in the Sensual class.
*Students are encouraged to arrive early so that we can start on time. Doors open at 6:45pm. Come sign in and hang out a bit before class!
*Per request of the studio, we will dance in either dedicated indoor dance shoes, or socks :)

Stephen Smith is a Bachata and Salsa Instructor with 12+ years experience teaching Latin Dance. This summer, Stephen was on a country-wide tour in which he taught Bachata in 22 cities across 12 states. Prior to his summer tour he has been teaching progressive Bachata programs with Bachata Sensual Orlando, one of the top bachata studios in the country. And Prior to Orlando, Stephen ran a dance business on Maui, where he taught Bachata and Salsa for 7 years.
His own training has included extended visits to Spain, birthplace of Bachata Sensual- where he's trained with renowned artists such as Daniel and Desiree, Sara and Marco, Luis and Andrea, and Korke and Judith.
Joanie is a multi-disciplinary dance artist with 13+ years of teaching experience. Starting with Irish Step dance at age 5, she transitioned to belly dance at the age of 14, and by age 18 was teaching and performing regularly. She spent 8 years as a senior faculty member at Saffron Dance, one of the largest belly dance schools in the country, eventually serving as Artistic Director from 2017-2020. During this time she also spent 5 years as a soloist and company dancer with Nomad Dancers, a Persian and Central Asian performance troupe in Washington DC. In 2017, she discovered partner dance, starting with Bachata and soon expanding to Brazilian Zouk. Although no longer a full-time dancer, she continues to find great joy in dance and is excited to return to teaching!
