Art Walk Late Show: The Chingaderas

Join The Chingaderas in The Sanctuary Studio to celebrate the First Saturday Art Walk.

The Chingaderas formed in the Spring of 2024 when Eric Stoner (Drums & Percussion), Ed Mendieta (Percussion) and Edwin Cruz (Bass) started improvising as a trio together on percussion heavy grooves.

On New Year’s Day 2025 Simon Drew (Trumpet / Piano) sat in for the first time to jam on some of the well established grooves Eric, Ed and Edwin had been developing. The chemistry was incredible, and the melodies from Simon’s trumpet and piano playing immediately took things to the next level. Then, in late February 2025, Kyle Nielsen (Guitar) sat in for a session. Again, the chemistry was just right.

And so The Chingaderas are a new quintet, just starting to form their unique type of fusion. Not quite funk, not quite rock, not quite jazz… even they don’t know what to call it… hence the name of the group, Chingaderas. Spanish slang for something you’re trying to describe but can’t remember, or don’t know the name for.
