Early Wildflower Hike

Our annual Wildflower Identification Hike is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, and we expect more than 20 varieties of flowers to be in bloom at that time. However, by that date a few of the earliest flowers may already be fading away, so our volunteer hike leader, Camila Haney, wanted to offer an earlier hike to identify a few of the early bloomers like trout lilies, spring beauties, squirrel corn, harbinger of spring, and Allegheny spurge.
Meet at the Laurel Gorge Cultural Heritage Center on Saturday, March 28 for the Early Wildflower Hike which will begin at 1:00 p.m. "Wildflowers of Appalachia" fold-out pamphlets will be available for purchase for $8.95 each. No fee for the hike. Appropriate footwear and walking sticks are recommended. Approx. distance: 2+ miles.
