Operation Red Sleigh Down 21
GRINCHBO: FIRST BLOOD
Desert Hawks Airsoft is proud to present the 21st annual Operation Red Sleigh Down on Saturday, December 13th, 2025. Operation Red Sleigh Down is a benefit game that raises awareness about children in need this holiday season. Near the holiday season each year, we gather to socialize and play an organized airsoft event and fill a truck with new unwrapped toys and then donate those toys to the USMC Toys For Tots program. Please consider coming out, helping those in need, and having a good time with us while you are at it!
Scenario: GRINCHBO: FIRST BLOOD
Veteran and drifter John J. Grinchbo wanders into a small town in search of an old friend, but is met with intolerance and brutality by the local sheriff. When the sheriff and his deputies restrain and shave Grincho, he flashes back to his time as a prisoner of war and unleashes his fury on the officers. He narrowly escapes the manhunt, but it will take his former commander to save the hunters from the hunted!
...yeah, it's always 80's or 90's action movie nonsense and it does not make sense to us either, but just go with it because it's always good for a giggle or two and sets the stage for some fun… Remember to bring a toy for the kids!
Admission:
Your admission to this event is an unwrapped toys with an equal or greater value of $10. Cash donations are discouraged, but if you forget your items a suggested cash donation of $15 will allow the staff to purchase items in your behalf when dropping the donations off. All donations go to the Toys for Tots program to be used for Arizona families at risk.

Special Note:
Radios are not required for this event but are HIGHLY recommended due to how the objectives are spread out and the play is fluid and flag captures MUST be called in to get credit. Mid cap magazines are encouraged but high cap magazines are allowed to be as inclusive as possible to all level of players. Please also note this event is being planned as a 'Milsim-light' Battlefield type event with a fun twist. This means that we expect limited return trips to cars and staging areas, pack what you need to play for a 90-minute evolution on your person.
There will not be breaks in the action once we are underway. We have planned 1 short break to grab a snack and refit then swap sides midway through the day. Please be prepared to carry everything on your person that you need to play and stay on your feet, including plenty of water, spare batteries, and extra ammunition.
At this time we are not allowing pyrotechnics of any kind. This may change as the site becomes more developed. Please, no commercially available cold burning smoke or FX/pyrotechnic grenades should be in use by players. Non reactive grenades such as Thunder B or sound grenades are authorized.
As has been the case for a few years now this will be a classic Battlefield style capture the flag event only this time held at the Red Gila Ranch with a new layout. The ranch has significantly more play area then was used in previous events but may take some adjustment to navigation due to the new terrain. Changes sustained this year include keeping the added flags, minor updates to flag positions, and some minor tweaks to respawn rules to help keep both sides in the fight if momentum swings one way or the other.
RSVPS:
Since we want to be sure that the teams are as balanced as possible to avoid a lop-sided event, we are going to continue using ticketbud.com to issue free tickets to track attendance. As we sale out on both sides we will release additional batches of tickets. To do your RSVP simply mark yourself as going to the event hosted on
https://www.facebook.com/pg/DesertHawksAirsoft and then go to the Ticketbud page and select your team. Ticketbud will collect name and email address from you, but the tickets are free! In the event you need to swap sides or need to drop please do reach out via the contact link in Ticketbud to let us know so we can free up those tickets. Be aware that we have changed the system this year to be one ticket per order per person and the names need to match your ID. This means if you are a parent you need to sign up once for yourself and once for your child using respective names. This is so we can screen out those who have been banned from our events.
Please note that we continue to be stricter on uniforms this year due to issues that needed to be addressed with folks jumping sides or gaming the rules in prior years. This is a decision made by staff to help reduce confusion and ensure everyone has a good time. This means that you will be required to wear clothing in the form of a top and a bottom that matches the base color of your faction of choice. No blue denim/jeans for bottoms and no greys please. You should clearly have a base color of green or tan when standing in the light. Please also bear in mind if you shrug off your top your t shirt should also be your base color. Load bearing gear color does not matter. Please pay close attention to the faction uniform guidelines below.
