An Autumn Odyssey: A Gathering of Cranes at Jasper-Pulaski

An annual autumn spectacle is the gathering of thousands of sandhill cranes (and occasional whooping cranes!) at their migratory stopover site at Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area. Sam Urquidez (Outreach Biologist Assistant, International Crane Foundation) will meet us at the observation tower and describe the migratory routes of these birds, their life histories, and conservation efforts to protect them. As sundown approaches, we
will watch the flights of birds coming in to the staging fields and observe their varied and complex behaviors. Dress warmly, bring binoculars.
