The Mermaid Society of Texas, guardians of the river’s magic, beckon thee to don your witch’s garb and join the HOCUS POCUS RIVER PADDLE.
Bring forth thy kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes, and let us glide upon the river’s enchanting currents.
Yet heed the council of the wise, and leave behind glitter, sequence, stick-on jewels, and other trinkets that may harm the river’s flow.
Young ones, accompanied by thy kin, are welcome to join in this mystical journey but must have a life vest per SM river rules.
Our paddle shall commence from the fabled IVAR’S Beer Garden, and we shall journey forth to center island and back, riding the waves of the river’s wonder.
Once our journey ends, partake in seasonal potions and nourishment to replenish the magical essence.
The event is open to the public from novice to advanced.

San Marcos River Rules:
No single-use containers, prohibited glass, and styrofoam. Visitors should use reusable containers for beverages and secure lids on coolers, which are limited to one 30-quart cooler per person. You also cannot jump into the river due to unpredictable depths, and children under 8 and non-swimmers should wear life jackets.
Prohibited Items
Glass: No glass containers are allowed because they are dangerous to people and wildlife.
Styrofoam: Styrofoam items are prohibited as they can leach harmful chemicals into the water.
Single-use containers: You cannot use single-use bottles or cans in or around the river. Bring all drinks in reusable containers.
Allowed Items
Reusable containers: Drinks must be in reusable containers.
Coolers: One cooler per person, no larger than 30 quarts, is allowed. They must have a secure lid.
River Activities & Safety
No jumping: Do not jump into the river as the depth can be unpredictable.
Life jackets: Children under 8 and non-swimmers are required to wear life jackets.
Respect private property: Use designated public access points for entry and exit, such as those at Visit San Marcos.
Respect wildlife: Be aware of your surroundings, including potential wildlife like snakes and turtles.
Other Rules
No littering: Do your part to keep the river clean.
Observe signs: Follow any signs or markers within the river.
