Join Cambrian Symphony for Invitation to the Dance, a vibrant celebration of rhythm, movement, and cultural expression that launches our 2025–26 season. Under the baton of conductor Thomas Alexander, this dynamic program invites audiences on a musical journey across continents and traditions.
The evening begins with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite, a beloved classic that evokes the grace and emotion of ballet through sweeping melodies and lush orchestration. Next, we travel to Mexico with José Pablo Moncayo’s Huapango, a spirited orchestral showpiece rooted in the folk rhythms of Veracruz—so iconic it’s often called Mexico’s “second national anthem.”
After intermission, the program continues with Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank, a San Francisco native whose music reflects her Peruvian, Chinese, and Lithuanian-Jewish roots. Each movement pulses with the colors and sounds of different South American regions, blending tradition with bold, contemporary flair.
We close with the ever-popular Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Márquez, a sultry and exuberant work that showcases seductive tango rhythms, lyrical solos, and a dazzling orchestral finale.
As always, this concert is presented free of charge, with a suggested donation of $25 per adult to support our ongoing community performances.
We look forward to seeing you there—come dance with us through music!
