Alum Rock Trail Crew - Monthly Community Day Event!

WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT TO WEAR:

We will provide tools for you to use while we work on the trails at alum rock.

Choose clothing you will feel comfortable hiking and moving around in. Sun protection is a must! Also, we often work tearing down weeds with thistles and thorns-- Your clothing choices matter for this event.

Recommended attire:

1. Sun hat and Sun screen
2. Long sleeve shirt to protect from ticks and sun
3. Long pant legs to protect from ticks and sun
4. Closed toed shoes are required. Sturdy sneakers or hiking boots are recommended.
5. Filled water-bottle and snack.
6. A small backpack to carry items in throughout the event.

The event runs from 8:45-12:00. Cell reception is not guaranteed in this remote area. Those dropping-off should come a little early to locate our group. We will meet at the Mineral springs parking lot, its a 3 mile drive from the Penitencia Creek Road entrance.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Drive past the entrance booth on the main road. Keep driving and the road will narrow to one lane, follow the traffic light and keep going. Once you reach the old trestle bridge, the road will split, turn to the left. The road will end in the Mineral Springs Parking Lot near the Youth Science Center. Go to the end of the parking lot and look for a large green truck that says "Park Volunteers," and you'll know you are in the right spot.

No experience is necessary. The event will be held--rain or shine.

Please download the Volunteer Service Agreement and bring the form with you to the event. Extra forms are available at the registration table on the day of the event!

Note: All persons under 18 must have a parent's signature. Community service hours are given for middle and high school students!
