Meet the incredible CAST & CREATIVES for the staged reading of Leigh M. Marshall's THE STARMAKER on Monday, Sepetember 22 at 7:30 pm at The Royale in SF with a mixer at 6:45 pm to celebrate Bay Area Theatre Week. Itill also be released on demand Oct 6-12. THE STARMAKER examines how the opioid deaths of 21-year-old trap stars are romanticized like something out of Romeo & Juliet-then leveraged for success on the Billboard Hot 100.
Check out why some of the artists are excited to be a part of this play's development:
"I love this play. Leigh's imagery dances with the vision of how classic text intertwines with the current epidemics surrounding us on our streets. It asks the question 'when does lifestyle cross the line and become a portal to addiction and destruction?' "
~Dan Wolf~
"I love this play. It’s really f*** funny for one thing but also holds so much empathy and grace for people struggling with addiction, loss, mental health issues and more. I'm really really grateful to be part of the team telling this story."
~Jacob Henrie-Naffaa~
"Leigh's play reminds us of the shocking power of first love, the pain of being forsaken, and the fortitude required to move forward. It is a story that shares hope and adds light to the world we all share."
~Sheila Devitt
