Dance Games Strike Back -- (Intermediate Fusion Partner Dance Games)

Let’s face it… You’re a fusion dancer and part of the rebel resistance. You chose fusion because you wanted freedom—not rigid patterns, not cookie-cutter rules. You want to break the mold, explore the edges, and dance with creativity and connection. This class series is your rebel training ground.
Back by popular demand, and with even more laser power — Dance Games Strike Back is a 5-week progressive series where we level up your fusion through structured play.
Each class is a mini lab with a set structure:
Step 1 – Learn the rules.
Step 2 – Dance the rules.
Step 3 – Share your discoveries.
Step 4 – Switch roles and play again.
Every week is themed around a unique energetic flavor—earth, fire, spirit, water—and we build toward a deep, embodied understanding of partnership and freedom on the dance floor.

𝐃𝐉𝐬:
𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝑳𝒊𝒖
DJ:
Jonathan is a musician with decades of experience playing the piano and singing in choirs. His first introduction to social dancing was through his college West Coast Swing club, and ever since then he has been hooked. Although he only discovered fusion a year ago, it has rapidly become his new favorite dance style due to its potential for freeform musicality. As a DJ, he strives to highlight music from a wealth of diverse genres in order to craft a dance experience that is fresh, genuine, and deeply connected.
𝑲𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑵𝒖𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕
Kate Nugent has been dancing for almost 12 years, she started in East Coast Swing but very quickly moved into Blues then Fusion - her true love is Micro Fusion. In those 12 years Kate learned to DJ at the SBF Late Night under the great DJ Wiggles (Ricci Adams) and slowly started to branch out to other venues. She has also helped host parties, she’s taught beginner basics through to the intricacies of Micro and she was even an organizer for another Bay Area dance venue.
Kate tends to play a mixture of old and new centering around rhythm, musicality and bassy backbones. Some of her favorite artists are Stateless, Oh Wonder, Bishop Briggs and Two Feet to name a few. Prepare yourselves for a set filled with gooey, micro and classic Fusion songs!
𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬:
𝑱𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒏
Jeannie Lin is a shapeshifter dancer who is able to effortlessly adapt, blend, articulate and draw from a myriad of different dance forms and experiences. Her early training included gymnastics, ballet, and modern dance, while her later years included formal study in over 30 styles of partner dance at the Ballroom Dance Teacher's Academy where she graduated with high honors. Now she happily resides in the worlds of fusion and argentine tango, where she weaves in her other dance styles together seamlessly, integrating concepts and creating hybrid movements with grace and fluidity. Recognized for her nuanced and effective teaching style, she's been invited to teach at fusion festivals and workshops across the US and internationally in Europe, Canada, and the UK. Now she lives in Los Angeles where she co-founded LA's first micro-fusion venue, Tiny Dancers, and is currently co-organizing for Angel City Fusion.

With over 20 years of experience as a dance instructor, A'lan specializes in close-embrace dance and has honed his skills in the realms of Blues, Fusion, Tango, and Micro. A celebrated figure in the national fusion scene, he frequently travels across the US to teach dance and DJ for events. A'lan's classes place a strong emphasis on connection, consent, safety, clear communication, and fostering shared experiences.
