ROXANNE ROLL BIO:
Roxanne Roll has been circumventing typical Club Land since she started DJing in London (over 20 years ago), when the only sure-fire way to get booked as a female DJ was to put on your own night, and create your own community. So that’s what she did, with vintage-leaning, vocal-forward, inclusive ideas that ran counter to the masculine norm of the club sound of the time.
Formative years as a Sydney rave kid and pop-culture obsessive, led her to London where Balearic adventures ensued along with a love of genre-flipping dance music amidst the burgeoning festival scene of the 2010s. With her playful choices and sensitivity to context, she became a regular on the Pagoda stage at Secret Garden, Shangri-La Glastonbury and taste-making clubs and bars in London before moving to LA in 2013. Now she’s busy playing all over the world as the founder/DJ/producer for Fleetmac Wood (the first remix project of just one artist) and just one of her many musical obsessions.
You’ll also find her enthralled in creating her Kaftan Discotheque mix series, DJing power disco in places like Kit Kat Club Berlin (Disco Bizarre), honky tonk bangers in the psychedelic desert joints of Joshua Tree, campy nuggets at the beaches of Fire Island NYC and balearic rarities poolside at Pike’s Ibiza. Her recent remixes for Katy J Pearson and vintage Eurythmics have been played on LA’s eminent KCRW Radio. Recognised for her Covid community building she was included on the She Said So ‘Alt Power List for 2020’ and has curated 50%+ female week-long line-ups at her Burning Man Camp (Salty Jacks) 2023, 2024 and 2025. Her obsessive collecting makes for a euphoric flight with surprise landings, after all her DJ motto is “Always play something that scares you”.
Genres: Indie Disco, House, Synthwave, Cheeky Techno, Alt-pop, Classic/Cosmic/Power Disco, Vintage Edits, Country Disco, Rockin Remixes, World Music, Funky Shit Going Down in the City…
