After Dark: Solstice

As the longest night of the year in San Francisco approaches, the other side of the globe prepares for its longest day. Join us at After Dark to explore the complementary relationship between light and shadow, and discover the many ways light finds its way into dark places.

Learn about robots that help us traverse the unlit depths of the ocean. Peer into the eyes of animals whose vision adapts to light. Enjoy a dance performance inspired by the rhythms of the solar system, and don’t miss our special winter exhibition Glow.
