Bruce Ackley & Fred Lonberg-Holmes
The Anti-cellist, Lonberg-Holmes, arrives at the gates of the Peacock Lounge on Sept. 11. Pupils ablaze with unholy mastery of harmonics, timbre and scale, he melts away the mere tissue of musical convention tempting you with a reality you've always dreamed. A disciple of both Feldman and Braxton, he counts among his many collaborators Peter Brötzmann, Zeek Sheck and tonight our very own neighborhood druid, Bruce Ackley, who weilds the sonic sceptres known as clarinet, soprano and tenor. A founding member of Rova Saxophone Quartet, Ackley is a woodwind autodidact and virtuoso who stirrs it up with the likes of John Zorn, Eugene Chadbourne, and Ikue Mori. Suffice to say, if this is indeed the eschaton, you'll want immanentize a front row seat.

JETZTAHORA
The present arrives slowly but then all at once and while goodness may be flushed, pure evil also passes. From that blind-beyond a fantasy supertrio appears: Danishta Rivero (Caribay/Voicehandler/Las Sucias), Sandy Buschman-Román (Demon Sleeper/Las Sucias), and Kyle freaking Bruckmann (Splinter Reeds/EKG). Postsecular singing rises amidst postindustrial electronics, seraphim choke out cherubim tumbling from their plaster clouds as the toppling edifice decapitates kings to reveal a new depth of darkness where numberless suns blaze dimly in the distance, new light from ancient power arrives presently, slowly then all at once.

Theresa Wong
Does multiplication happen in space or in time...as a function of mathematics or of archeology? Can multiplicities be predicted or are they only perceived? All of the above, and nowhere do past and future comingle more clearly than in Theresa Wong's musical embrace. By voice, cello, light and in composition, Wong's muscial practice unfolds new possibilities of form, improvisation, just-intonation and intermedia performance. In her work, each mode spawns dimensions of interpreted pasts, proposed futures, and a blossoming present. Wong's reach extends to history as in "The Unlearning: Songs inspired by Goya's Disasters of War etchings" and also surges ahead as with "Practicing Sands" on her label Fo'c'sle Records; but to meet her in the present, you have to step inside the Peacock Lounge.
