Blessing of the Animals

The blessing of pets and animals is traditionally celebrated on Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. In keeping with this tradition, Scripps chaplains will offer a special blessing for animals on the front lawn of Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25th, 2025. The event is open to staff, volunteers and community members.

Join us for music, games, refreshments and treats as we celebrate the special bond between people and animals. Each animal will receive a personal blessing from a chaplain.
