As the 2025 ICSD Knight of Leather, a core part of my platform is to bring lifesaving harm reduction education into our community. I am happy to announce a series of FREE overdose response trainings that I will be hosting at local bars, clubs, and community venues. These sessions are open not only to staff but to the ENTIRE community.
I bring both professional and lived experience, working directly in the field with harm reduction organizations here in San Diego. Day after day, I’ve seen how preparation and knowledge make the difference between tragedy and survival. This training is practical, hands-on, and accessible to anyone. No medical background required.
What you’ll learn:
✅ How to recognize the signs of opioid overdose
✅ Step-by-step response until help arrives
✅ How to administer naloxone (with practice)
✅ How to use fentanyl test strips and share them with others
✅ Where to access ongoing free harm reduction resources locally
In addition to training, I will be ensuring that participating establishments are supplied with naloxone and fentanyl test strips. These will not only be on hand for emergencies but also available to patrons who want to take them home.
Overdose does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone. A friend, a family member or pet, a coworker, or someone you meet on a night out. With these tools and skills, you can save a life.
