Come out and join us next weekend, Sunday, August 31, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM at the San Benito Cultural Center, for the next entry in our Creative Writing Workshop and Merienda Series — Exploring Nature Writing: Re-Defining Boundaries with Taylor Zavala.
Participants of this event will have the opportunity to work through guided readings, group embodiment exercises, and short writing invitations brought to our community by certified Relational Forest Therapy Guide (ANFT) and Certified Nature-Based Education Teacher Taylor Zavala.
Zavala comes to us from their work with the education team at Quinta Mazatlán and a BFA background received from Emerson College — their return to the Rio Grande Delta is at the core of this nature writing workshop, which will encourage participants to explore their own relationship with the surrounding ecosystem through a storytelling practice.
On view during the workshop will be Glimpses of Nature, a collection of 12 x 12 works by members of Rio Bravo Artes that are centered in the natural heritage of the South Texas and Northern Mexico regions of the borderlands and the impact of their ecology on its residents.
The San Benito Cultural Center is located at 225 E. Stenger St., San Benito, TX 78586. The workshop is free and open to the public. Parking is available near the side entrance to the Cultural Center, across from the Elk Lodge.
