D. Allen Novian, PhD, LMFT-S, LPC-S, BCN

Dr. Allen Novian has been working in the marriage and family therapy, counseling, neurofeedback, and biofeedback fields since 2001. Dr. Novian was blessed with the opportunity to use his biofeedback and marriage and family therapy skills in both a therapeutic setting as well as at the VA hospital, where he was the program coordinator for the Stress Buster’s Program until 2009. Dr. Novian has been in private practice since 2007 and has made marriage and family therapy, neurofeedback and biofeedback his specialties. He has counseled individuals, couples and families, with clients ranging from 3 to 94, and diagnoses including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, bipolar, seizure disorder, ASD, and benzodiazepine withdrawal, in addition to helping marriages and families

through a variety of issues. In 2016 he became an adjunct professor in the St. Mary’s University Graduate Counseling program, where he taught until 2020. Dr. Novian holds a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy, and is both a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor. He is board certified in Neurofeedback (BCN).

Overview:

By understanding what the mind is, what the brain is, and how they are influenced in relationships, we as therapists can positively impact our clients' development toward integration in a more holistic way.

Learning Objectives:

The learner will be able to define the mind, describe how the mind develops in relationship, explain how the mind moves between integration and disintegration, and identify ways to positively influence the integration of the mind through the practice of therapy.

Audience:

This presentation is appropriate for professionals in the mental health industry.
