The Home READY Workshop is a free, 4-hour, hands-on session designed to help older Westside homeowners keep their homes safe, efficient, and resilient. In partnership with LISC San Antonio, CPS Energy, SAWS, and the City of San Antonio’s Neighborhood & Housing Services Department, this workshop provides practical guidance, demonstrations, and direct access to trusted local resources.
What to expect:
Participants will learn how to weatherize their homes, reduce energy and water bills, understand new utility programs, and prepare for emergencies. Outreach trainers from CPS Energy and SAWS will walk through conservation tips, meter basics, and weatherization tools. Additional content includes disaster readiness, scam prevention, property tax basics, and how to navigate City rehab and homeowner assistance programs.
You’ll also have time to visit information tables from CPS, SAWS, and COSA-NHSD, ask questions one-on-one, and explore programs that can support home maintenance and long-term stability.
Every participating household will receive a free Home READY Kit filled with practical weatherization and safety supplies—including a fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide detector, faucet protectors, File of Life card, document protection bag, flashlight, first aid kit, and more.
This workshop is intended for older homeowners living near the VIA Silver Line corridor who want to strengthen their homes, stay prepared, and access reliable resources designed with their needs in mind.
