EPIC Bat Flight Night at Bracken Cave Preserve

Experience the awe-inspiring sight of over 15 million Mexican free-tailed bats spiraling into the sky at dusk in search of food. This natural phenomenon is truly one you won’t forget.

Fuel up for the adventure with an optional dinner at Wraptitude (off FM 3009) at 5:00 PM—a great chance to connect with fellow nature lovers before the main event.

We’ll meet at the main gate of Bracken Cave Preserve for check-in at 7 PM. Once everyone has arrived, we’ll take a short ¼-mile hike to the cave, where we'll begin with a brief orientation and educational talk. Then, we’ll sit back and enjoy the breathtaking emergence of the bats.

What to Bring:

• Closed-toe shoes
• Comfortable clothing for hot summer temps
• Refillable water bottle
• Insect repellent
• Sunscreen
• Camera
• Binoculars (optional)

What NOT to bring:

• Pets
• Coolers
• Alcohol
• Food

Please arrive on time! Once the gates to the preserve are closed, no one else is permitted to enter the property.

Look instead for "Bracken Cave Preserve" and ensure the address is listed at 7515 Bracken Cave Road, San Antonio, Texas 78266. If you pass the entrance to National Bridge Caverns on your left, you've gone too far.
